Initial Review:
This is the first time we’ve eaten here, so keep your eyes open for a followup review… that said, the food & drinks we had were great and we can strongly recommend Lilo’s Streetfood & Bar in Lake Worth, FL!
Our waitress was great; professional, friendly and courteous. She stopped by to check on us often enough to keep things moving, but not so much as to be annoying. She also took the time to explain that they served “family style” – i.e. they don’t bring out individual orders for those at the table, but rather bring everything out on trays for you to pick from.
We started out with the chips and guacamole which also came with pico de gallo – Guacamole was not the best I’ve every had, but was not bad at all and the pico de gallo was actually quite good… just the right amount of lime juice and cilantro.
We had the Lychee Margaritas (rocks) – while I’m a purist when it comes to drinks and am generally not a fan of any of the “specialty” margaritas, these were quite good. They were offered with a sugared rim or a salt rim, so my wife had the sugared and I had the salt… we both enjoyed our version!
The raw seafood was awesome! Both the oysters and the clams where super fresh and briny! We had a dozen of each and could have easily had a dozen more!
BTW, kudos to the kitchen staff as well… both the oysters and clams were properly purged & shucked! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had oysters, at “high-end” restaurants, where I had to pick pieces of shell out of my mouth!
After this wonderul treat, we decided to stick with seafood and asked about one of the specials – 2 Stone Crabs for $20. Our waitress was kind enough to bring them out for us to see… good thing, because it turns out that it was actually 2 Stone Crab CLAWS for $20! Now mind you, they were 2 Jumbo Stone Crab Claws, but nevertheless, I just couldn’t bring myself to order them and so we moved on to the “streetfood” – BBQ pulled pork tacos with banana peppers, pickled onions and cabbage – $2! loved them!
I always like to ask the waitstaff for their favorite dish and so, at the recommendation of our waitress, we also tried the Charred avocado sandwich – (Applewood bacon, avocado, arugula, tomato, cilantro mayo on whole grain bun).
I have to say that while not bad, it simply was not my cup of tea. You twenty/thirty somethings would probably love it just as much as our waitress, but us fifty-somethings… not so much 😉
The bottom line:
Lilo’s Streetfood & Bar offers a nice variety of items at reasonable prices – during happy hour, 2 can easily eat for less than $20 including drinks & tip!
